  •
    • Voting at the election
    • In accordance with article 10(6) of the 1931 Order, at the election each person registered on the Register of fishermen, shall be entitled to three votes at the election. However, no more than one vote can be given to any one candidate. The time period allowed for Registered fishermen to vote will be one hour from 5.30pm – 6.30pm.
    • Three votes is the maximum number of votes any person registered on the Register of fishermen is entitled to (e.g. a person is not entitled to more votes because they own more than one fishing vessel in the harbour or otherwise exceed the minimum qualification criteria to be entered on the Register of fishermen).
    • The three candidates having the most number of votes at the election shall be appointed as fishermen’s Commissioners with effect from 1 November 2023. In the case of an equality of votes at the election the Chair of the meeting shall have a casting vote or votes (as the case may be).
    • Withdrawal of candidates
    • Please note that any candidate may withdraw from election by sending a written notice to the Clerk either via email: kay@nsh.org.uk or at the harbour master’s office (Harbour Road, NE68 7RN), such notice to be received by the Clerk on or before 11 October 2023.
