Why does it keep freezing after a few seconds.
hi

just wondering if any of the web cams might be down in seahouses, been watching the harbour, piers etc for a few weeks now, just so love the area, reminds me our hols there, used to get the view that panned across the farne island and onto bamburgh, but cant get this view now.. any help anyone... thanks for great service
Hi everyone up in seahouses, great to be able to access the cameras down the harbour. I lived in seahouses for many years, and went to school there, makes me a little less homesick, being able to see the harbour and views out to sea. Thanks malcolm.
Full Compliments of the Season to the Harbour Master and all the good folks of Seahouses , Beadnell and the surrounding area .
Looking forward to seeing you all again in 2020 !
May I wish you all you wish yourself ,
Christopher .

Christopher,

Many thanks for the kind words. We hope you had a great Christmas and all the best for 2020 and beyond. NSH
Ah - relief! No more orange on the pier! (A blessing for photographers...) Congrats to getting that big chunk of repairs out of the way, let's hope it lasts for another good 15 year(s).
As always I have suggestions for improvement - ha! - but it's really a hopeful question about the addition of another camera angle in the future, the one from the Harbour Office we used to have that showed the boat boarding spot at the front slip. In the spring especially this was always wonderful to watch on the camera as it reminded me that time was near where I could race up north to Seahouses for another fantastic visit! Any chance?
I think the Hammerhead camera needs a slight adjustment.
Nice to see the building work progressing on the pier. Hopefully it will be finished soon.

Adele - Many thanks for letting us know. Hopefully should be ok now; but i'll keep checking to see if it needs work! NSH
Wonderful job cleaning the seating area, looks a lot better already. Is the gravel part staying like that or getting planted up? Again, makes such a difference already... so much tidier.

Thank you for your kind comment. NSH
Hi, just wondered where I can access the harbour webcam? Used to be able to but can't find the correct way now. Sorry to bother you but I just love looking at the harbour... Makes me a little less homesick!
Thank you.

The easiest way to get to the cameras is using the menu to the right. If your on a computer you should see this no problem, but if your on your phone then click the small arrow on the centre right of your screen and scroll down on the menu.
Me again, hi Barry, thanks for replying. And for fixing the site so I can see the weather now, perfect! :-) As for the seal, yes, contact numbers would be helpful! It was on the small shingle beach below the cliff path to the golf course. With the low tides there was quite a bit of foot traffic, which is why I was concerned. What we also need - since all kinds of folk hang out in the Harbour Office - is a huge Barry mugshot so we all know how to find you in case of urgent questions! All I got from the lads at Billy Shiel's were vague descriptions of a broad-shouldered individual...

The information has been included on the menu to the right now regarding the seals. I'll try to get a mugshot done soon! NSH
Hiya, just wanted to say I popped in to the Harbour Office during my holiday with a question about a dead seal on the beach, and, after the friendly responses to my postings here, was dead surprised to find that no one in there wanted to speak to me, let alone help by informing the NT who I was told, veeeery grudgingly, was responsible for removal. Did I come at an especially bad time? I guess visitors do see you as a first destination for all kinds of questions. I would have thought that a rotting fully-grown seal cow might be a wee health hazard to kids and dogs walking by. Maybe it would be prudent to list on the website how far your duties extend so people don't come bother you with the wrong questions?

Anna, I'm very sorry to have missed you and i'm also sorry to hear about your experience. I've been working on the suggestions you sent to try and get the weather and tidal forecasts to be more specific to the area, and hopefully you'll see this on the site now. I may also attempt to add information such as how to report a dead seal in the local areas, as it depends on where it is to whom is responsible. Unfortunately we have very limited influence in ensuring the situation is dealt with. NSH
Please could someone shimmy up to the short pier camera with a Chamoise ?
Looks like a seagull has done a whoopsie all over its window. :)
yours in hope,
Geoff.

Turns out the extremely poor weather last week caused some water ingress. We're working to get it fixed as soon as possible. NSH.
Loving those closeup shots of the Farnes in this rough weather! Stay safe, everyone.

Thanks Alison, much appreciated. NSH
Thank you for the continuing work to refine the webcam experience.

Love the current simple cut 1min per 5 view point set up.
Much more comfortable for sustained viewing than the recent single cam “Hosepipe” whizzing pans and zooms.

The image quality remains excellent and without “buffering” interruptions.
I view on computer monitor / large screen TV/ or projection screen. Both my tv and projector have the options to process your 2d image feed to simulate 3d. The short pier viewpoint is particularly effective and realistic when seen this way. Next best thing to actually being there, which I hope to do again in the not too distant future.

Hi Geoff, Sorry to take so long to get back to you... Hopefully the cameras are pretty much sorted now. I have a few little tweaks left to do to, but it shouldn't affect the quality of whats on the website at all. There's no better 3d feel than actually being here, although today is a bit nippy to be fair! Make sure you pop in for a cuppa when your here!

Must be “half term”? Great to see so many youngsters enjoying taking a boat trip in the beautiful autumn sunshine.

Best Wishes
Geoff.
Here's a one for you Kidda.......is the end of the main pier White Lighthouse
going to get a spanking new coat of paint when the Harbour renovations are completed ?
(It would finish things off in good style and the poor thing is in need of little touch up ! )
Warm regards, Chris .

Chris,

Yes! We have a building inspector coming round to check out our plans, but hopefully should be done of the winter.

NSH
Praise the Spirits - the cam is on line! ;-) Brilliant quality, and if you do get the buffering fixed, then we'll all be in heaven and I will hardly get any work done at the office from all that staring! Seconded on the inner harbour issue, it's always nice to see the boats coming and leaving there as well. Big praise to pass on to the lads on the pier, please (lest they won't be there when I arrive end of the month) - great job under trying circumstances! Bearded Guy with the great singing voice will remember me - he always told me in the summer to buy my own boat because I was spending so much on the day trips!

Glad you're happy Anna. Not sure who the bearded guy with the great singing voice is??? NSH
Thank goodness the webcam is back on line again. It seems to whizz round to the main pier alot, thatll be nice when the harbour works are gone. Can we have more zoom in of the Inner Harbour? What happened to all the individual cameras? Liked the view from the Harbour Masters hut across the harbour.

I hope the harbour works are finished by March, our next visit or failing that, by July our visit after next!

Adele, the works are coming on great and will be finished by your next visit - although there is always more work to be done. The Cameras are all still working, and we're trialing a few ideas before making a final decision how they'll be. The first attempt with five individual cameras meant that they 'buffered' a lot. The one roving camera still buffers, but not nearly as much. Hopefully in the next few days we'll try one more thing with 'switching views' and then decide a way ahead. In the interim, I can certainly get the camera to view the inner harbour a bit more.
The new webcams are just wonderful Kidda !
Cant wait to watch the Christmas Eve Fireworks " going live " this year.
The Harbour work has moved on a little since our week there in September and it will be splendid to see the complete job done in person during our already booked week up there next September ( if not before ).
Regards to my beloved North Northumberland !

Thanks Christopher. The works are coming on great, and the end is in sight! Great idea you've had I think we'll be setting up a specific 'fireworks camera' this year... NSH.
Thanks for all your work with the new webcams. They're great!

Cheers Carolyn. Still a few little issues, but not long to get them sorted hopefully. NSH.
Wow! Definitely worth the wait. Thanks to everyone involved for all the hard work.

Thanks Alison. Still not quite right - but almost there! NSH.
You were correct. The wait for the new webcams was worth it.
Great improvement in image quality and 5 different views!
Excellent. Thanks and congrats to all concerned.

Many thanks. There will still be a bit tweaking to get them right - so keep watching! NSH
Love the new website. Well done guys! Really missing the webcams...

Many thanks Carolyn... the part for the cameras is now here... so hopefully the end is in sight; and so will the harbour be very soon! NSH.
Still. No. Harbour Cams!!! Grrrrh! LOL Anyhoo, I'm counting down the weeks to my visit. Fascinated to read below about those divers' woes. I wonder whether Ben Burville would be available for teaching classes on how to carry your stuff in a timely fashion? I always had my eyes water watching that man, mourning my missing biceps!

Lol. Not sure about the biceps! Unfortunately the component required to upgrade the CCTV system STILL hasn't arrived; so you'll have to hold tight a bit longer... but it'll be worth it.
Love Seahouses, we've stayed there often. I sometimes think I need to see the sea on holiday to keep me sane for the rest of the year so I'm really missing the webcams! Any ideas about when they'll be back? The new website is great too.

We've ordered some new camera stuff and are just waiting for it to arrive, although it's taking longer than we thought too! Hopefully not long now before they're back on line. Thanks for the compliment on the website. NSH
Hi,
Is it still possible to launch from North Sunderland Harbour at the moment?
Cheers
S.

Sorry, but not this year, due to the renovation work. NSH
ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER HARBOUR WORKER TELLING OFF DIVERS. NOT EXACTLY FRIENDLY HERE? THATS 2 DAYS IN A ROW.

As I said in an earlier comment, we try to balance a lot of various things on the harbour; but on occasions we must intervene and take charge. Today my colleague asked politely for compliance BEFORE having to be more direct. As they say 'You can't please all of the people all of the time...'.

We welcome divers (and all visitors) to North Sunderland Harbour, but just ask that they consider others when loading and unloading; and move if told to do so by our staff. We all just want to get along! NSH
I saw the whole incident mentioned below and have to say well done to you "young man". Keep up the good work!

Thank you NSH.
I was quite taken aback today by a young man whom I believe may have been the harbour master? A great deal of cars had parked near the huts and vans to load divers equipment when they announced quite loudly that the cars were to move immediately. Although the cars were a temporary nuisance to passers by as well as the young man I thought this approach was a bit abrupt.

Hi. That young man was me! It may have appeared abrupt, but I had previously asked politely for the cars to move just moments before but to no avail. Indeed the number of cars increased to 10 in that confined space before I felt the need to announce loudly my intent. The harbour is a working area, which attempts to accommodate a great many things including diving, passenger vessels, RNLI and fishing boats to name a few; but first and foremost safety of all users takes priority. If I can't get access in a forklift what chance would RNLI, Coastguard, Fire-brigade, Ambulance or Police have? NSH
I have been visiting Seahouses for over Sixty years and still take a weeks break there every year just as I did back in the 1960's and 70's .
Whilst some of the developments in the village are not to my taste ( they are now doing the same to nearby Beadnell) the place still has a magic for me that I can find nowhere else .
I enjoy reading about the Harbour updates about the current renovations and indeed all the " goings on ".
Looking forward to the webcams coming back on line !

I must admit Christopher, I agree about some of the more recent developments, not all to my taste either; but architecture is only a tiny part of what makes the area so good. A good mix of characters, some visiting for the first time, some for their umpteenth visit and the locals of course; added to the fantastic scenery and great local businesses all contribute to making the place magical. Hopefully the cameras will be back up by the weekend (1st w/e Sept), and I'll endeavour to keep you updated in the meantime. NSH.
Me again, wouldn't want to miss the opportunity to wish Phil all the best in his future endeavours. Keep drinking your coffee, young man! :-)

I'm sure Phil appreciates your kind thoughts... and as for the coffee... we'll all keep at it! NSH
Great new website, can't wait for the webcams to go online again! Brilliant harbour, village, people - what can I say, gearing up for visit #5 in two years, always a treat and a pleasure to feel the welcome and kindness of Seahoosians. Good luck on finishing the pier in time!

Thanks for the kind comments Anna. The work on the pier is progressing well, and is currently near enough bang on schedule, which for a job of its size is great news! Hopefully you'll be able to take full advantage of it when you return for trip number 5! NSH
Beautiful harbour, beautiful place. I enjoy visiting every summer. Good work on the new look website.

You're right Eileen, we're very lucky up here; and it's great to know you keep coming back. Thanks for the complement on the website! NSH.
A great improvement on old site

Many thanks for your kind comment Alan. NSH.
